MARS Foundation’s merit based annual sponsorship 2005- 2006

The Foundation, as a major project activity for academic year 2005- 2006 announced ‘MARS Foundation’s merit based annual sponsorship 2005 - 2006’, to five hundred and seven (507) ”meritorious underprivileged” student beneficiaries living in the peripherals of Madurai, Melur,Tuticorin, Coimbatore, Mettupalayam, Tirupur and Chennai.

For Project purposes, peripherals of Madurai, Tuticorin, Coimbatore, Mettupalayam, Tirupur and Chennai. were included in the Project area, considering these places as –

Most backward / rural area, having
Limited access to support from NGO's or in receipt of no support at all
Low literacy rate
Limited (or) inadequate Educational infrastructure
Limited access to Education related support
Inadequate resources for information dissemination
Population dense with rural poor

The method of operation involved:

Preliminary / random visits to Schools in the most backward areas
Face to face interaction with students, parents and teachers.
Collection of application forms along with the progress report
Selection and finalization of Student beneficiaries on the basis of merit and economic background

The distribution of MARS Foundation’s Merit Based Annual Sponsorship involved:

Direct visits to all the 30 identified schools by the Managing Trustee
Face to face interaction with the Student beneficiaries, parents and teachers – and providing sponsorships directly to the deserving students explaining about the purpose of the sponsorship, and Foundation's long-term goals /objectives.
Personal interviews with the selected Student beneficiaries to identify their Career Focus and Choices
Individual home visits to identified Student beneficiaries to have an onsite evaluation of their day-to-day living condition.
Distribution of sponsorships in each school to selected students based on their requirements in front of the fellow students gathered for the assembly.

A specific set of parameters for evaluation have been formulated to monitor the progress of the Student beneficiary so as to continue the sponsorship up until the Student beneficiary attains a desired / definite career.
